Studies around the world indicate that early abandonment of education represents a very negative phenomenon both for individuals and for society. On the one hand, the early abandonment of education reduces the individual’s ability to engage in the labor market and achieve a satisfactory quality of life, and on the other hand, leads to unwanted social outcomes, such as increased crime rates, higher social costs or poorer health status of the nation.

The Center for Social Policy, supported by the European Union, published a study on the prevention of early school leaving. The study examines the current response of institutions in reducing the dropout of students from the education system and proposes a model of an improved system for early identification and response of institutions at the local and national level in order to prevent the release of pupils from the education system.
